What happens when an Indian man lives in China for six years? According to Abhinav Singh, quite a few things come as a surprise.

Singh, a dance choreographer from India and the face behind the YouTube channel “Desi Boy in China,” posted a video where he spoke about his everyday life, the cultural differences, and the habits that surprised him.

Titled “Indian in China SHOCKED! (Grocery Shopping, Daily Life & Surprising Habits),” the vlog followed Singh through his routine in China.

He talked about the affordability of groceries, compared food habits in both countries, and shared how certain practices in China differ from what Indians may expect.

In his video, Singh began his day with a morning class. Despite the rain, he took the subway instead of his car. Midway through his journey, he realised that the train would not take him directly to his destination, which prompted him to switch midway. He lightheartedly remarked that such moments are perfect for a quick nap if you’re sleepy.

He also spoke about his commute experience. “The subway I boarded only goes halfway, so I need to change trains to reach my destination. It’s a 35-minute journey, good enough to catch a nap,” he said.

He then pointed out an everyday habit in China that stood out to him. Showing commuters on an escalator, Singh explained how people form an orderly queue, leaving one side open for those in a hurry.

“In China, people stand in line on the escalator, leaving one side open for those in a hurry,” Singh added.

Post work, Singh headed for grocery shopping, where he spoke about the cost difference compared to India. He then cooked his meal at home, describing the momos he ate as the type cricket star Virat Kohli prefers.

Singh, who has been living and working in China for several years, often shares such relatable experiences on his channel. His videos explore the landscapes, lifestyle, and culture of China from the perspective of an Indian expat.

Singh’s channel “Desi Boy in China” has become a go-to for viewers curious about life in China beyond the usual stereotypes. His honest and lighthearted storytelling connects with people looking to understand what life is really like on the other side of the border.

Interestingly, this isn’t the first time an Indian in China has caught the internet’s attention. Earlier, an engineering student’s vlog giving a tour of her dorm room in Shenzhen went viral.
