A woman accused of splashing excrement onto a neighbour’s air conditioner and damaging their security camera in Hong Kong has been found guilty of criminal damage by throwing offensive matter onto private property.
Suen Siu-fong, a 59-year-old housewife, was convicted of both charges at Eastern Court on Wednesday following a trial.
The court heard that a security camera had been installed on a 15th-floor corridor of a residential building in Shau Kei Wan on May 31 last year.
Footage shows Suen appearing about seven minutes after its installation, looking around before walking towards a window ledge and making a pushing motion.
She then turns and leaves quickly, shortly before a loud noise is heard as the camera falls onto a first-floor platform.
The defence argued that Suen had merely tried to open a window and accidentally dislodged the camera because it had not been securely installed.
But Deputy Magistrate Ho Tsz-chun said Suen had no apparent reason to go to the floor below her home to open the window, and her decision to check the corridor and leave quickly was difficult to explain.
