Hong Kong experienced its coldest morning so far this winter on Friday, with temperatures dropping to 12.9 degrees Celsius.
The city’s first cold weather warning of the season remained in force on the first working day of 2026, according to the Hong Kong Observatory.
“Temperatures over many areas fell to 12 degrees or below this morning, four to five degrees lower than those of Thursday,” a spokesman for the Observatory said.
The cold weather warning has also remained in force since midnight on Friday, carried over from New Year’s Day.
The forecaster said the weather would be mainly fine and dry, with daytime highs reaching around 18 degrees.
