Hong Kong – Hong Kong Airlines has teamed up with China Oriental Performing Arts Group and Elite Fun Entertainment Limited to mark the return of the acclaimed dance drama “Poetic Dance: The Journey of a Legendary Landscape Painting” to Hong Kong with a specially themed flight.
The dance drama will run at the Grand Theatre of the Hong Kong Cultural Centre from 31 December 2025 to 3 January 2026. Inspired by the Northern Song dynasty masterpiece A Panorama of Rivers and Mountains, the production brings the aesthetic serenity and poetic spirit of the Song era to life through dance.
Titled “The Journey of a Legendary Landscape Painting—Hong Kong Airlines Invites You to Unfold the Scroll in the Skies”, the themed flight combines contemporary stage art with an immersive travel experience, allowing passengers to engage with Song Dynasty-inspired aesthetics at 30,000 feet.
The collaboration reflects a shared vision of promoting and innovating traditional Chinese culture. Hong Kong Airlines and the China Oriental Performing Arts Group aim to use art as a bridge, transforming the journey into an extension of the stage and offering passengers a poetic cultural experience.

On 29 December 2025, flight HX239 departed from Shanghai Hongqiao to Hong Kong, with the cabin of the A330 aircraft transformed into a mobile scroll inspired by A Panorama of Rivers and Mountains. The interior featured landscapes of verdant mountains and rivers, creating an immersive cultural environment.
Three lead dancers from the production joined as special guests, interacting with passengers and distributing commemorative gifts. Commemorative boarding passes were issued, and cabin crew wore scarves and badges reflecting Song Dynasty elegance. Inflight music and announcements further cultivated a tranquil, artistic atmosphere.
The partnership underscores Hong Kong Airlines’ commitment to “Connecting Culture Through Flight”, integrating art and aviation to showcase Chinese cultural heritage through modern creativity.
Jeff Sun, president of Hong Kong Airlines, said, “We are truly honoured to bring the renowned dance drama ‘Poetic Dance: The Journey of a Legendary Landscape Painting’ aboard our flight. Through this collaboration, we hope to allow more travellers to experience the charm of traditional Chinese art and contemporary creativity during their journeys.”
He continued, “Hong Kong Airlines will continue to fulfil our mission of connecting culture through flight, promoting Chinese culture on a global stage. We look forward to deepening our future cooperation, jointly developing cultural‑tourism IPs that showcase the power and elegance of Chinese culture to the world.”
