Germany has released its women’s national team roster for the final two group stage matches of Women’s World Cup Qualifying next month. The matches will be played against Norway (June 5th, in Köln) and away to Slovenia (June 9th, in Ljubljana).
It is a welcome comeback for quartet Bühl, Kleinherne, Hendrich, and Müller following injuries as well as an intriguing return for Kössler, the former Hoffenheim forward who has four NWSL goals to her name since moving to Denver in January.
Bayern full-backs Giulia Gwinn — normally the Germany captain — and Franziska Kett are both missing out due to injury. Kett was a part of the original call-ups but has not been replaced in the squad, per OneFootball. Frankfurt forward Nicole Anyomi is also absent.
As captured via the DFB site, head coach Christian Wück shared his thoughts on the home stretch.
“Our goal is clear: we want to finish top of this group and qualify directly for the 2027 World Cup in Brazil. We will give everything in the upcoming games to make that happen – with maximum focus, passion and team spirit,” Wück said. “Of course, missing those injured players is a blow for us. At the same time, we know others will step up and take responsibility. We have great faith in this squad and in every single player. Everyone knows what is at stake, and we know the team is ready to secure World Cup qualification.”
Germany sits top of the group with 10 points from four matches, having drawn 0-0 to Austria in April, but Norway is just behind at nine.
