Football fans protest in Bremen as German state ministers meet

Hundreds of German football fans protested in Bremen on Wednesday against planned tougher security measures at stadiums as state interior ministers met in the city to discuss the proposals.

Around 600 fans were involved, according to police. Other observers on site estimated a higher figure.

Fans have been demonstrating at matches for weeks. They feel planned new rules such as personalized tickets and centrally imposed stadium bans are unfair.

A final decision on the plans is not expected during the three-day meeting in Bremen.
