Liberty, part of Liberty Mutual Insurance Group, a property and casualty insurer, has appointed Cynthia Sze as Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Hong Kong, effective May 2026, subject to regulatory approval.
Liberty’s Hong Kong entity will be unified following the integration of its operations under a single licence, proposed to go into effect on April 1st, 2026.
Liberty International Insurance Limited will operate under the Liberty brand, offering a comprehensive range of personal, commercial, and specialty insurance solutions to the region.
The move also aims to create a stronger, more integrated platform to serve agents, brokers, clients, and partners across Hong Kong.
In her new role, Sze will lead Liberty’s unified Hong Kong business and report to Matthew Jackson, President, Liberty International Insurance, Asia Pacific. Her focus will be on unifying teams, sharpening market execution, and accelerating sustainable growth.
Sze has over 25 years of industry experience across Hong Kong and North Asia, and is recognised for building high-performing teams, delivering disciplined underwriting outcomes and strengthening long-term broker and client relationships.
Jackson commented, “2026 is a defining year for Liberty in Hong Kong and across Asia Pacific. Operating as one Liberty in-market enables us to deliver greater clarity, consistency and capability to our customers and distribution partners. Cynthia’s leadership experience and deep market expertise position us well for the next phase of growth.”
The integration also sees Eddie Young, Vice President & Chief Executive of Liberty Specialty Markets, and Cynthia Leung, Finance Leader of Liberty Insurance, leave Liberty at the end of July following completion of the unification.
Jackson added, “Eddie and Cynthia have provided dedicated leadership and stability during a significant period of change for our Hong Kong operations.
“Their contributions have been instrumental in positioning the business for successful integration and future growth. We thank them for their commitment and wish them continued success in their next chapters.”
