Chinese Diplomat ‘Dissatisfied’ With Japan Talks as Rift Deepens

A senior Chinese diplomat indicated that talks aimed at easing tensions between China and Japan did not go well, suggesting the dispute over Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi’s comments on Taiwan is unlikely to fade soon.

Liu Jinsong, director-general of the Chinese Foreign Ministry’s Asian Affairs Department, said he was “dissatisfied” with the result of his meeting with Masaaki Kanai, the Japanese Foreign Ministry official in charge of Asia and Oceania affairs, according to a report by Chinese news outlet The Paper.
