“Firstly it’s a good way to release the pressure and secondly, it’s a good way to encourage the other two. I was totally focused on the competition and encouraged by the environment.”
Korea are looking forward to Sunday’s stage and aim to stamp their authority as the leading recurve women’s team once again against familiar foes but Tokyo 2020 victor An San was ecstatic by their performance against USA in the semifinals.
Lim, An San and Kang Chaeyoung were left stunned by USA’s Catalina Gnoriega, Jennifer Mucino and Casey Kaufhold in the Antalya 2025 1/2 match – stage three of the World Cup – who became the first American team to overcome Korea following 20 attempts.
But 10-time Olympic gold medallists Korea were quick to remind why they have been world leaders in the discipline for so long, dispatching eventual bronze medallists USA in straight sets 6-0 [57, 58, 54].
“We were really passionate in this match about getting a great score. We’re very happy together,” added An San. “Even though the wind was really strong, we tried to talk to each other, share the information so the teamwork was very good.”
There was agony for the Korea in the recurve men’s semifinals though as the bronze medallists succumbed to a high quality 5-3 loss to France, Baptiste Addis, Thomas Chirault and Jean-Charles Valladont, both teams dropping a perfect end [60] each.
The Frenchmen finally awarded the revenge they have been seeking as their respective Paris 2024 and Shanghai gold medal match losses were at the hands to Kim Woojin, Lee Woo Seok and Kim Je Deok.
France are up against USA in the final.
Competition continues this afternoon in Madrid with compound individual eliminations.
