Chelsea have splashed the cash to sign England international Morgan Rogers from Premier League rivals Aston Villa.
Rogers joins Xabi Alonso’s Chelsea on a contract that runs until 2033 at Stamford Bridge ahead of the 2026-27 Premier League campaign.

The fee is reported to be worth £117million ($225million AUD) – smashing the British transfer record, ahead of Manchester City recruit and fellow England international Elliot Anderson.
That makes Rogers the second most expensive signing in Premier League history, only behind Alexander Isak’s £125 million ($238.8million AUD) switch from Newcastle United to Liverpool last season.
“I’m so excited,” said the 23-year-old. “For me, Chelsea are the biggest club in London and a club I’ve always admired since I was a kid.
“I’m really excited about the project with the new manager, the players we’ve got and where the club is heading. That’s why I’m here and I can’t wait to get started.”

Rogers scored 31 goals and supplied 29 assists in 125 appearances for Villa since joining from Middlesbrough for just $13.4million AUD in 2024, winning the UEFA Europa League last season.
He tallied 14 goals and 12 assists in 2025-26.
Rogers is Chelsea’s fourth new signing heading into 2026-27, after Geovany Quenda, Marco Palestra and Emmanuel Emegha while Marc Cucerella, Andrey Santos and Tyrique George have departed.
