Aside from Colman Domingo, Alessandro Michele dressed three more celebrities in Valentino for the 2025 Emmy Awards, each with very different results.

capelet charm
This might divide opinion, but I’m firmly in the “love” camp when it comes to Parker Posey’s lilac custom Valentino. The capelet detail instantly reminded me of Maude Apatow’s TIFF moment, but this felt right at home on Parker. It matched her eclectic, vintage-infused personality, especially knowing she works with Leith Clark. Custom should always feel this personal, and I honestly can’t imagine anyone else pulling this off with such ease. Sabyasachi jewels completed her look.

Velvet plunge, heavy timing
Meghann Fahy, on the other hand, usually nails it for me, but this Valentino Fall 2025 black velvet dress felt weighed down. The deep plunge gave some relief, but it read more Berlin-in-February than LA-in-September. Not a bad dress, just the wrong night for me. Styled with Christian Louboutin O Condora sandals and Tiffany & Co. jewels, this left me wanting more.

Texture play, Hahn’s way
Kathryn Hahn’s Valentino Fall 2025 dress struck a better balance. The play of textures kept it lighter, more dynamic, and more in step with Emmy night. Paired with Sabyasachi jewels and Stuart Weitzman platforms, it felt like a quietly assured win.
