BEIRUT (Lebanon) – Sustaining last season’s historic success will be the target of XAC Broncos, as they begin their back-to-back bid in the Basketball Champions League Asia-East (BCL Asia-East) this week.
Easily one of the 2026 competition’s most awaited teams, the Mongolian club will debut on Monday when they take on newcomers South China AA in the latter’s own stomping grounds at the Southorn Stadium.
Yes, the caravan is headed to Hong Kong, China and there should be no shortage of exciting hoops from April 6-9, as all teams from Group B will finally see action after their Group A counterparts did so last week.
As hosts of this particular window, it’s going to be a busy stretch for the defending Hong Kong A1 Division champs as they will be playing in all the said dates, with their very first game against the league’s barometer.
Game time is set at 20:00 local time, with South China, of course, hoping to make a good first impression against a Broncos team that’s actually in the midst of its 2025-26 The League Finals series with Selenge.
Currently, Ian Miller & Co. are up 2-0 against DeMarcus Cousins and the Bodons in the best-of-7 affair, and they’re surely flying into HKG as a confident bunch, for they won’t be needing to shake any rust whatsoever.
After the Broncos, South China will be tested anew against the two Chinese Taipei representatives: TPBL champions New Taipei on April 7 and then Taoyuan Pauian of the P. League+ two nights later.
Those two teams made up half of the BCL Asia-East 2025 Final 4, with the Pilots eventually reaching the Final before settling for a silver medal. The Kings, on the other hand, went on to finish at fourth place.
So from battling a repeat-seeking side, South China will then take on teams motivated to better their finishes from last season, making it a challenging debut for one of the pan-regional contest’s neophytes.
