The launch will happen at Launch Site One, Blue Origin’s private facility in West Texas, about 140 miles east of El Paso, near the U.S.–Mexico border. This flight will be New Shepard’s third human spaceflight in 2025, and its fifth overall this year, as per the report by USA Today.
Who is going to space this time?
The same spacecraft made headlines in April 2025 when Katy Perry joined an all-women crew for a trip over 60 miles high, reaching the edge of space. This time, six new space tourists will be on board, including H.E. Justin Sun, a Chinese crypto billionaire who founded TRON.

The other five passengers on flight NS-34 are, Arvi Singh Bahal, a real estate investor born in India, now a U.S. citizen, Gökhan Erdem, a businessman from Turkey, Deborah Martorell, a Puerto Rican meteorologist and award-winning journalist, Lionel Pitchford, a philanthropist from England who lived in Spain and worked as a teacher, translator, and tour guide, and James “J.D.” Russell, an entrepreneur who founded Alpha Funds and Alpha Aerospace.
What happens during a Blue Origin flight?
All six will ride to space for a short trip, where they’ll feel weightless and see amazing views of Earth from more than 60 miles high. The entire spaceflight lasts about 11 minutes from liftoff to landing. The rocket, named New Shepard, after Alan Shepard, first American in space, is 60 feet tall and has an autonomous capsule on top – no pilots inside, as per the USA Today report.
The rocket goes faster than 2,000 mph, reaching supersonic speeds, then the booster separates from the capsule. When the capsule is in space, passengers will unstrap and float inside, looking out the big windows at Earth from space. The booster returns to Earth, lands vertically using engines and fins, about 2 miles from the launch pad.
The capsule re-enters the atmosphere and falls in a “stable freefall.” Then three huge parachutes open, and it lands softly in the desert, kicking up dust. Blue Origin will livestream the launch about 30 minutes before liftoff on its official website, so people can watch from home, as stated by USA Today.

Jeff Bezos himself flew on New Shepard’s first crewed flight back in July 2021, after 15 test flights since 2012. Since that first mission, 70 people have flown on New Shepard across 13 crewed flights.
Blue Origin is also building New Glenn, a 320-foot-tall rocket that first flew in January 2025 from Florida, and may fly again this August. New Glenn is made to compete with Elon Musk’s SpaceX, especially for NASA contracts and private customers. The giant rocket is similar in size to SpaceX’s Starship, which is 400 feet tall, as per the USA Today report.
