ATFX client trading volumes decline 29% in slow Q2 2026

China based Retail FX and CFDs broker ATFX has released its client trading performance stats for Q2 2026, indicating a much slower quarter than Q1 (or Q4 2025), as momentum around energy trading subsided.

ATFX said it recorded total trading volume of $777 billion in Q2 2026 (or monthly average volumes of $259 billion), down from $1.09 trillion in what was a record Q1 at ATFX. The company also achieved an 8.22% (year-on-year) increase in its active client base, reflecting a continued growth in client engagement and the strength of its global business.

Joe Li, Chairman of ATFX said,

“Our priority at ATFX has always been to provide clients what they need to navigate the changing market conditions. The continued growth in client participation and healthy performance across our core markets demonstrate the resilience of our business and reinforce our commitment to delivering a world-class trading experience.”

Q2 trading across major asset classes:

  • Energy led all asset classes, with trading volume surging 787% year-on-year, driven by heightened volatility in the global energy markets.
  • Cryptocurrencies continued to gain momentum, rising 33.42% quarter-on-quarter and 22.88% year-on-year, reflecting sustained interest in digital assets. (We find those stats somewhat puzzling, given the large decline in crypto trading volumes at many other brokers and platforms during Q2, such as at Robinhood).
  • Indices recorded 11.73% year-on-year growth as traders responded to opportunities across global equity markets.
  • Forex trading volume increased 7.63% year-on-year, demonstrating strong client participation in the world’s largest and most liquid financial market.

During Q2 ATFX continued on a clear international expansion plan, receiving authorization for a rep office in Colombia, and naming industry veteran Dany Mawas as CEO of ATFX Africa. However ATFX decided during Q2 to shutter its prop trading unit, ATFunded, as several key executives hired from MyForexFunds left the company.

ATFX is operated from several locations worldwide, primarily from Hong Kong, Dubai, and London. ATFX is controlled by its Chairman, Chinese national Hiu Keung (Joe) Li.
