Barcelona star Marc-André ter Stegen’s departure from the club remains firmly on track, despite recent claims to the contrary. This comes amid the assurance that the German is continuing to inch towards a move to the Eredivisie, with Ajax.
Goalkeeper Ter Stegen has of course long been expected to secure a fresh exit from Barcelona this summer. After spending the 2nd half of last season plying his trade with Girona, the 34-year-old has again been deemed as surplus to requirements by Hansi Flick and his staff.
The aforementioned Ajax, in turn, have for weeks now been locked in talks with club and player alike, over the terms of a loan deal for Ter Stegen.
Just when it appeared as though the transfer was imminent, concerning reports then began to surface this week, that negotiations were on the verge of collapse.
As alluded to above, though, on Sunday, the fears of the Blaugrana faithful have been eased…
As per a report from European transfer insider Florian Plettenberg of Sky:
‘Unless something extraordinary happens, the plan is for the deal (MAtS to Ajax) to be finalised next week. As things stand, the deal has not collapsed, despite reports.’
