Celebrity chef eliminated in Week 2 of ‘Dancing with the Stars’ – Deseret News

We are now two weeks and three eliminations into Season 35 of “Dancing with the Stars,” and after Tuesday night, the show is down one celebrity chef.

All 14 remaining celebrity contestants and their pro partners performed to a viral song during Tuesday’s episode, which was themed “Viral Hits Night.”

The night ended with an elimination once again. Celebrity chef Giada De Laurentiis and her pro partner Alan Bersten were eliminated from the show after tying at the bottom of the leaderboard.

Giada De Laurentiis’ elimination

De Laurentiis and Bersten danced a salsa to “Bella Ciao” by Becky G.

Judge Derek Hough told De Laurentiis that her smile is “so infectious” and that he loved “the character moments” in the dance. But he added that “there was a few missteps” and “it was a little timid.”

Judge Bruno Tonioli said, “You gave me salsa without spice, that is a slight problem.”

The judges gave the performance a score of 12 out of 30.

After the pair’s elimination at the end of the episode, De Laurentiis told the show’s hosts Julianne Hough and Alfonso Ribeiro, “I tried my best and it wasn’t best enough,” as she nodded in defeat.

She also apologized to Bersten, who hugged her and told her he was proud of her.

Jenna Dewan and Val Chmerkovskiy

Actress Jenna Dewan and her pro partner Val Chmerkovskiy did a jive to “Animal” by KATSEYE.

Tonioli said they didn’t miss a beat, and judge Carrie Ann Inaba said, “That’s what I’m talking about.”

Ciara Miller and Brandon Armstrong

Reality TV star Ciara Miller performed a tango with her pro partner Brandon Armstrong to the song “No Broke Boys” by Disco Lines and Tinashe.

Inaba said that Miller attacked every move and added, “That makes me so happy, I am so proud of you.”

Tyler Cameron and Sharna Burgess

“The Bachelorette” alum and reality TV star Tyler Cameron and his pro partner Sharna Burgess performed a salsa to the song “Girls” by The Kid LAROI.

“The tricks, the lifts were so impressive,” said Derek Hough. He added: “There wasn’t a lot of salsa there.”

Julia Stiles and Ezra Sosa

Actress Julia Stiles and her pro partner Ezra Sosa performed a tango to the song “The Door” by Teddy Swims.

“What’s beautiful about you is your posture it’s so amazing,” said Inaba. But she added, “You really need to let it go.”

Savannah Bananas player and social media personality Jackson Olson did a foxtrot to the song “That’s So True” by Gracie Abrams with his pro partner Emma Slater.

“I was really impressed by your frame. I could tell you’re really trying to hold that up,” Hough said.

Connor Wood and Rylee Arnold

Podcaster and comedian Connor Wood danced a tango to “12 to 12” by Sombr with his pro partner Rylee Arnold.

“I really like what you to do,” Tonioli said. “There were a lot of mistakes tonight and you know that … but the good bits were excellent.”

Ezra Frech and Daniella Karagach

Paralympian and track star Ezra Frech and his pro partner Daniella Karagach performed a cha-cha to “Low” by Flo Rida.

Hough said that because of his prosthetic, Frech has a better “understanding and awareness of your weight transfers and your body.”

Tatyana Ali and Jan Ravnik

Actress Tatyana Ali and her pro partner Jan Ravnik performed a foxtrot to Billie Eilish’s “What Was I Made For?”

“That was breathtaking, ethereal, magical, gliding across the floor,” Hough said.

Amber Glenn and Pasha Pashkov

Olympic figure skate Amber Glenn and her pro partner Pasha Pashkov performed a tango to “All the Things She Said” by Harrison.

Tonioli said that the performance was the “best tango of the night, period.”

Inaba shared that it was “phenomenal” and “this partnership is working”

Guillermo Rodriguez and Witney Carson

Jimmy Kimmel’s sidekick Guillermo Rodriguez performed a paso doble to “Where Have You Been” by Rihanna with his pro partner Witney Carson.

“You approached that dance with intensity and you gave us posture,” Inaba said.

Taylor Hanson and Britt Stewart

Musician Taylor Hanson and his pro partner Britt Stewart did a cha-cha to DNCE’s “Cake by the Ocean.”

“Don’t throw it away,” Tonioli said, and added, “I like the way you’re working.”

Actor Harry Shum Jr. and his pro partner Jenna Johnson performed a Viennese waltz to “Iris” by the Goo Goo Dolls.

“Overall it wasn’t bad,” Tonioli said. “Great performer, great dancer.”

Maura Higgins and Mark Ballas

Reality TV star Maura Higgins did a cha-cha to “September” by Earth, Wind & Fire with her pro partner Mark Ballas.

“We want to see you grow, you’re learning,” Inaba said. “I see you’re dedicated to learning the technique.”

When is the next episode of ‘Dancing with the Stars’?

Season 35 will continue next Tuesday with Yacht Rock Night at 7 p.m. MDT. It will air on Disney+ and ABC. The episode will be available the next day on Hulu.
