For anyone looking for a coffee machine that’s the perfect combination of compact and simple, the newly launched Lavazza Tabli could be just the thing. As a Shopping writer who previously specialised in home products, I’ve been lucky enough to test out a lot of coffee machines and, after putting the Tabli through its paces, I’ve been left impressed by how easy-to-use it is.
I’ve been testing the machine out over the past few weeks, and it’s helped me to put a stop to my rather expensive takeaway coffee habit. Instead of ordering a coffee each morning, I’ve been starting my day with a Tabli coffee and, honestly, it tastes just as good.
It’s no secret that I’m somewhat of a coffee snob – I like a ‘proper’ coffee to start my day. Usually, this means I either walk to the little coffee shop on my road or order a Starbucks for delivery, but the Tabli has put a stop to this expensive habit.

The Tabli is a single-serve coffee machine that can make three drinks: espresso, lungo, and double espresso. While you can opt to purchase the Tabli on its own, because I prefer to add milk to my coffee, I picked the bundle that includes a handy milk frother, allowing me to make flat whites, lattes, and cappuccinos at home.
The Lavazza Tabli is available to buy from Lavazza for £199. However, the Tabli Essentials Bundle has currently been discounted from £222.56, down to £150 and includes the machine and four signature tab blends.

The Lavazza Tabli coffee machine is a single serve coffee machine that can make three drinks – espresso, lungo, and double espresso. When paired with the MilkEasy frother, it can also be used to make flat white, latte, and cappuccino.
For those wanting a milk frother to use alongside the Tabli, the Tabli Coffee Corner Bundle is down from £314.56 to £199.99. The bundle includes the Tabli machine, MilkEasy frother, a selection of coffee pucks, and a free mug.
A cheaper alternative is available at Amazon. It’s selling the Phillips L’OR Barista Sublime for £53.99, down from £114.99. There’s also the Nespresso Vertuo Pop available from Currys for £109, down from £199.99.
Going back to the Lavazza Tabli, unboxing and setting the system up was quick and easy. All I had to do was plug the machine in, fill the water tank, and add a coffee puck, and it was ready to use.
To brew a coffee, you simply select the type of coffee you want and press start. Once your coffee is made, the puck drops into a compartment below, which means you don’t need to worry about disposing of each individual one; you can empty the compartment as and when it’s full.
There is a range of colours to choose from, with black, white and brown options available. Because I picked one of the bundle options, rather than just the machine on its own, I got a selection of pucks delivered with my machine, including espresso (light roast), super crema (medium roast), espresso lungo, and double espresso.
The coffee tastes fresh and is packed full of flavour. I’ve had lots of visitors over the past few weeks, and everyone who’s had a coffee has commented on how nice the Tabli coffee is.
For me, in addition to the quality of the coffee, the main thing that sets the Tabli apart from other coffee machines is the fact that it uses coffee pucks, rather than tabs. The tabs are made from 100% compressed coffee, with no outer plastic coating, making them a great low-waste option.
According to Lavazza: “Once inserted into the Tablì machine, the tab instantly releases all the aroma and flavour that define Lavazza espresso, delivering an intense and satisfying sensory experience. Designed as the first tab coffee machine, the Tablì machine combines advanced technology with refined design, offering a new way to enjoy high-quality espresso at home.”
However, it’s worth noting that the paper trays the tabs come in do have a plastic film on them. Another potential issue with this setup is that once you open the multi-tab pack, all the pucks in it are then exposed, which could potentially lead to quality issues or the coffee going stale if not used quickly enough.
