Owen Wilson has recently opened up about which of his roles his kids adore the most. Spoiler alert: it’s not Wilson’s role from Disney‘s Cars, where he voiced Lightning McQueen.
In a recent interaction with E! News, Wilson discussed his upcoming project, Runner. During the conversation, the 57-year-old also reflected on which of his roles his kids loved the most. He said, “Night at the Museum. My kids kind of liked my little character Jedediah, and you know that stuff.”
Wilson played Jedediah in 2006’s Night at the Museum. He played a miniature cowboy who came to life on the night when everything inside the Museum of Natural History came alive and transformed into a fully grown human. The movie also stars Ben Stiller as the central character.
The father of three has shared a few rare insights about his kids over the years
The Focker-In-Law star is a dad to three kids. He has two sons, Ford (15) and Finn (12), and a daughter, Lyla, who is 7 years old. Over the years, Owen Wilson has fondly spoken about his kids on several occasions. During the Los Angeles premiere of Apple TV’s Stuck last year, he told PEOPLE how he is helping his children come to terms with golf.
Wilson said, “I’m trying. It’s hard sometimes with kids because it’s like me, as a kid, you want to play soccer or football and stuff. Golf does not come easily. What’s been kind of nice is going to Topgolf with them, and they love Topgolf. And so that’s the way I’m kind of sneaking them into sort of learning a swing.”
Back in June 2025, the Zoolander star opened up on Jimmy Kimmel Live about how his son, Finn, wanted to explore several unorthodox career options. Wilson said, “My youngest, first he wanted to be a DJ, and then he said he wanted to open a prank shop. He even had the name of the prank shop: Wilson’s Wizzbangs. You know, he had the gun where you grab it, and it could give you a little shock.”
Owen Wilson’s action-thriller, Runner, is scheduled to hit theaters on September 11, 2026.
