Aston Villa have reached a verbal agreement with Paris Saint-Germain to sign winger Ibrahim Mbaye.
A figure in the region of £47m has been agreed between the two clubs after Villa moved to bring in the 18-year-old due to missing out on AC Milan forward Rafa Leao to Galatasaray.
Sky Sports News reported in March that Villa were one of the Premier League clubs considering a move for Mbaye.
Liverpool also explored a potential deal for Mbaye this summer. However, they have since pursued a move for Mbaye’s teammate, Bradley Barcola.
Mbaye predominantly plays on the right wing and made 24 Ligue 1 appearances for PSG last season, scoring three goals and adding two assists.
Emery on transfer plans before Deadline Day
It has been a summer of upheaval for the Villa squad after losing Youri Tielemans, Morgan Rogers, Ezri Konsa and Lucas Digne. Ollie Watkins and Emiliano Martinez also look set to leave the club.
Alejandro Garnacho, Johan Manzambi, Leon Goretzka, Joao Gomes, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Matteo Ruggeri have all arrived, while a deal has also been agreed to sign Nicolas Jackson from Chelsea before an agreement was reached for Mbaye.
Speaking ahead of Villa facing Arsenal, live on Monday Night Football, Unai Emery was asked about the club’s transfer plans ahead of Deadline Day on September 1.

Unai Emery has admitted that Aston Villa are about to begin a ‘new chapter’ after the departure of Ollie Watkins and the imminent arrival of Nicolas Jackson.
“We took some decisions because it’s good for the club. We tried to compete as good as possible, but some situations are clear,” he said.
“It’s the right way and decision. We don’t want to be a club to sell players, but our responsibility is there. For the club it’s a good deal.
“It’s not changing our priorities to be competitive. We must be the same. Strong development with the players.
“I am confident and positive. The players we are signing are good players. We need to get balance with experience and players with huge potential.
“Of course, I want to keep some players, the ones who help us to be successful. But I accept it because I have experience before in the same situation.
“I expect to continue to do special and different ways. The objective is to get progressively in the same way. We will need time.”
