Manifest, a popular Netflix TV show that originally premiered on NBC but was then canceled after three seasons, is returning. It’s been announced that a new spin-off show, titled Arrivals: A New Manifest Mystery, is now in the works.
Created by Jeff Rake, Manifest premiered on NBC on September 24, 2018. The second season followed in 2020 and the third in 2021; however, NBC decided to cancel the show in June 2021. Manifest was added to Netflix shortly before the cancellation and became a streaming hit, so much so that the streaming service renewed the show for one more season, which was split into two parts. The first chapter was released in November 2022 and the second in June 2023.
Arrivals: A New Manifest Mystery, per Deadline, comes from Rake, Margaret Easley, and Laura Putney. All three of them serve as co-creators, executive producers, and showrunners on the project.
What else do we know about Netflix’s Arrivals TV show?
“In Arrivals, when a mysterious plane crash-lands in Denver, the passengers emerge with no memory of who they are, where they came from, or why they’re here,” the article reads. “A young social worker and a novice Homeland Security agent team up with the new arrivals in an attempt to stop a humanity-ending catastrophe, discovering along the way that they are all part of the very puzzle they’re trying to solve.”
Rake said in a statement, “But the world of Manifest has more stories to tell. To now bring fans a brand-new mystery from that world is quite simply beyond my wildest dreams. Arrivals co-creators and co-showrunners Laura Putney and Margaret Easley have been my trusted colleagues for over a decade. Their contribution to the Manifest mothership cannot be overstated. It was a no-brainer to make them my partners on this spinoff. Together we’ve set out to create something bold, surprising, deeply human, and full of the kind of big ideas that spark conversations long after the credits roll. We can’t wait for a whole new audience – and longtime Manifest fans – to discover Arrivals.”
A release date for Arrivals has not yet been announced. All four seasons of Manifest, meanwhile, are available to stream on Netflix.
