Adama Traore finalising free transfer to La Liga side Deportivo A Coruna after West Ham exit

Adama Traore is in the process of finalising a move to La Liga side Deportivo A Coruna after leaving West Ham United this summer.

A verbal agreement has been reached between the 30-year-old winger and the Spanish club on a free transfer, with the move now pending some final details and paperwork.

Traore joined West Ham in January from Fulham and made 12 appearances as the east London side got relegated to the Championship, before departing at the end of his contract.

During his spell at the London Stadium he was banned from lifting weights due to his “genetics” causing an “incredible” natural muscular frame, coach Nuno Espirito Santo said in March.

Traore did not make the squad for West Ham’s final three games, and was ruled out of their closing Premier League fixture with a hamstring injury.

The winger has made 271 Premier League appearances in total across spells with Aston Villa, Middlesbrough, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Fulham. He is set to make his return to Spain now, having come through Barcelona’s academy and playing in 21 senior matches for the Catalan side.

Deportivo A Coruna have drawn both of their opening La Liga games this term after being promoted from the Segunda Division last season.
