Veteran star Ron Perlman has joined the cast of a new horror movie from Companion director. The upcoming project is based on a viral short story by Matt & Harrison Query.
Ron Perlman, who’s known for Cape Fear, Mr. & Mrs. Smith, and Fallout, among others, will be seen in director Drew Hancock‘s next big movie, Seasons, reports Deadline.
The star-studded cast also features Lily James (Baby Driver, Relay, Pam & Tommy) and Jack Reynor (Midsommar, Lee Cronin’s The Mummy, The Peripheral). At the moment, all character details are kept under wraps for the horror movie.
What makes Seasons’ horror story so disturbing?
Seasons will be based on brothers Matt & Harrison Query’s horror short story that originally appeared on Reddit before getting adapted into a novel. Titled Old Country, it was published in July 2022.
The disturbing story focuses on a husband and wife who purchase their dream ranch. However, they soon realize that the land is already alive with ancient, dark spirits. To survive, they will need to submit to increasingly haunting rituals with each turn of the season.
Seasons has The Conjuring’s James Wan as the producer alongside Michael Clear, Shawn Levy, Dan Levine, Scott Glassgold, and Dan Cohen. Judson Scott is serving as the executive producer.
Seasons will be Andrew Scott’s second feature after he received wide acclaim for his 2025 hit Companion. Led by Jack Quaid and Sophie Thatcher, the horror comedy was a huge critical as well as commercial success. Its cast also featured Lukas Cage, Megan Suri, Harvey Guillén, Rupert Friend, and Marc Menchaca, among others.
Currently, Companion holds a spectacular Tomatometer score of 93% and an amazing Popcornmeter score of 88% on Rotten Tomatoes. The movie also did well at the box office, earning nearly $37 million worldwide against a $10 million budget.
As for Seasons, the new horror movie has yet to receive an official release window.
