The incident happened earlier this week when Mutiny leaked on the U.S. version of Prime Video for several hours. A mistake on the product detail page, which normally showcases trailers, led to the entire 1-hour-and-35-minute film becoming available. There hasn’t been any evidence that the leak was a deliberate marketing stunt.
Social media erupted as word spread. One user posted on X: “I’m watching Jason Statham’s new movie Mutiny, streaming on Amazon for free right now. This has to be a huge mistake, right? My theater has showtimes starting this week!”

Moreover, Mutiny’s leak compounds an already difficult situation. Pre-release tracking places Jason Statham’s movie opening weekend box office in the high single-digit millions. The film opens in roughly 2,700 North American theaters on August 21, 2026, carrying a $40 million production budget.
That projection puts it far behind Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which continues dominating multiplexes in its fourth weekend. Insidious: Out of the Further also opens this weekend in approximately 3,000 theaters, with Sony projecting a debut around $23 million against an $18 million budget.
All in all, directed by Jean-François Richet, Mutiny stars Statham as Cole Reed, a former Marine framed for murder who must prove his innocence. Annabelle Wallis co-stars alongside Arnas Fedaravicius, Jason Wong, and Adrian Lester. The screenplay comes from J.P. Davis and Lindsey Michael.
