The market opened around 17.50 this morning and initially looked set to build on yesterday’s strength, with early buying helping V6 edge steadily higher. The tone remained constructive through the morning and a push into the late session saw the contract reach a fresh high of 17.66. However, unlike recent days, the buying lacked the aggression required to force a meaningful extension of the rally and sellers were quick to emerge whenever prices approached the highs. As the session progressed the market slipped back into a broader range and spent much of the middle part of the day oscillating between 17.35 and 17.55. A couple of recovery attempts managed to lift prices back toward the upper end of the range, but momentum repeatedly faded and the market was unable to sustain a break above the morning peak. Despite this, there was little evidence of significant long liquidation, with dips continuing to attract support and preventing any deeper correction from developing. Into the afternoon another rally toward 17.65 again failed to generate follow-through buying and a sharp bout of profit-taking knocked the market back to the day’s low at 17.31. Recovery followed by mid-afternoon leading daily highs if 17.65, but market did not find power to go further up at this levels and some correction was seen before settling at 17.55, 6 points up from previous settlement. Volume traded was 96k lots.

Whites experienced a notably volatile session today, with V6 opening at 542.0 and initially trading on a firm footing. Early buying interest helped the contract climb steadily through the morning and momentum accelerated into late morning trade, lifting prices to the day’s high at 544.5. The move looked capable of extending the recent strength seen in the complex, with buyers willing to support the market on minor setbacks. However, the rally struggled to attract sustained follow-through buying and profit taking soon emerged around the highs. This prompted a sharp reversal that caught out some late buyers and sent prices tumbling lower through the middle of the session. The sell-off accelerated into early afternoon and Oct’26 eventually fell to a low of 534.4, erasing all of the morning’s gains and briefly putting the market under considerable pressure. The lower levels proved attractive to buyers however, and the market responded with an equally aggressive recovery. A combination of short covering and renewed speculative interest allowed prices to claw back much of the earlier decline, with the contract rallying back into the 543.0 area during the afternoon. Once again, though, the upper end of the range proved difficult to overcome and another bout of selling emerged, leaving the market to drift back toward 540.0 into the later stages of trading. Some recovery followed near closing and market Settled at 542.2 with 10k lots traded.
