TYC protests against Xi Jinping’s new ethnic unity law

Mangaluru: Members of the Tibetan Youth Congress (TYC) took out a march from Mangaluru City Corporation office to Rajaji Park here on Sunday, staging a demonstration against Chinese president Xi Jinping and Beijing’s repressive ‘Ethnic Unity Law.’The protest was organised in the memory of Tibetan activist Lobga Rangzen, who self-immolated outside the UN headquarters in New York on July 2. Carrying placards and shouting slogans of ‘Free Tibet,’ the gathering formally announced the regional launch of a worldwide chain protest campaign comprising hunger strikes, rallies, and coordinated diplomatic outreach.Tenzin Ninjaymay, former president of Tibetan Youth Congress, Mangaluru region, stated, “The protest is directly against Chinese President Xi Jinping and his decision to implement the ethnic law that poses a severe threat to our culture, tradition, and ethnicity.”Former MLC Capt Ganesh Karnik joined the gathering as the chief guest, expressing strong solidarity with the Tibetan youth.
