MLS club Atlanta United has reportedly turned towards Como striker Alvaro Morata, after Romelu Lukaku of Napoli leaned towards Fenerbahce.

It would seem as if Atlanta United have their sights set on Serie A for reinforcements in attack this summer, although they are finding it difficult to tempt players over to the USA.

Their first choice had been Lukaku, who is on his way out of Napoli at a fee of €10m.

However, multiple sources report that the Belgium international wants to remain in European football, so is closer to a deal with Fenerbahce than MLS or the Saudi Pro League.

According to Sky Sport Italia transfer pundit Gianluca Di Marzio, that means Atlanta United have instead turned towards Como centre-forward Morata.

The former Juventus, Chelsea and Real Madrid striker failed to score a single goal in Serie A last season.

He is heading up for his 34th birthday in October and moved to Como on loan with an obligation to buy from Milan at circa €10-12m.

Getting Como to agree a sale would not be an issue, but convincing Morata to come to Major League Soccer might be a more difficult task.
