Its new De Longhi Magnifica Duo ships with two milk carafes, one tuned for hot foam and one for cold, so a cappuccino at 7am and an iced latte at 3pm come out of the same machine without rinsing a container out and refilling it in between. Announced July 22, 2026 and available now in the United States and Canada, the Duo arrives as the newest branch of the Magnifica line rather than a clean sheet design. Espresso, drip coffee, cold brew, and both styles of milk foam live under one lid. Twenty presets handle the combinations. Whether that breadth earns a four figure price depends entirely on how many people in your house drink coffee differently, and on whether you’re already paying for that difference in counter space.

Two Carafes, One Chore Removed

In our survey of De’Longhi’s current lineup, one milk container is the norm. Switch from a hot cappuccino to cold foam and you’re rinsing, drying, and refilling before the second drink even starts. De’Longhi’s fix is blunt: build two. LatteCrema Hot handles the steamed side, LatteCrema Cool handles the cold, and neither container has to pretend to be the other on a morning when two people want opposite drinks.

Cold foam is the harder half. Milk that hasn’t been heated resists aeration, which is why plenty of machines either skip cold foam entirely or produce something closer to cold milk with bubbles that collapse before the drink reaches the table. De’Longhi is claiming a dedicated system rather than a shared one. Whether the cold side holds texture as well as the hot side isn’t something anyone can confirm without the machine on a counter.

Beyond milk, the De Longhi Magnifica Duo covers espresso, drip coffee, and cold brew from the same body, with a conical burr grinder and its 13 grind settings feeding all of it and a 2.4 inch display driving 20 presets across three user profiles. Drip coffee is the odd one out. Plenty of superautomatics stretch a long americano and call it coffee, which isn’t the same thing as a real drip cycle with a proper bloom and contact time. De’Longhi says this one drops the pressure and skips pre infusion so the grounds bloom, then runs cold brew at ambient temperature in under three minutes.

Saved profiles matter more in a shared kitchen than the spec sheet suggests. Two adults with different milk ratios usually means one of them recalibrating the machine every single morning, or quietly accepting a drink they didn’t actually want and never mentioning it. Profiles end that negotiation. Small feature, disproportionate peace.

Where a Thousand Dollars Actually Goes

$999.95 buys convenience, not control. A portafilter setup at half the price hands you grind adjustment, tamp pressure, and a steam wand you can learn, which is the better deal for anyone who enjoys the ritual, and The Gadgeteer’s look at one espresso machine that refuses to change makes that trade obvious. De’Longhi is selling the opposite: repeatability, speed, and a button. Legitimate product, but not a barista’s one.

De’Longhi’s own shelf is the sharper comparison. Hot and cold foam used to mean the Eletta Explore, listed at $1,999.95 and widely discounted to around $1,500, a machine De’Longhi itself billed as the only fully automatic espresso machine with both hot and cold foam technology, and the Duo delivers the same two carafe arrangement for a third to a half less. What you give up is breadth: 20 recipes instead of 50 plus, and a 2.4 inch display instead of a 3.5 inch one. Stranger still, the Duo undercuts the $1,099.95 Magnifica Evo Next, which froths hot milk only.

Who Should Skip This Machine

Black coffee drinkers, first. Two milk carafes are dead weight in a house where nobody foams anything, and in our experience a good drip machine paired with a burr grinder will usually make better plain coffee than a superautomatic. Skip it.

Solo drinkers come next. Profiles, presets, and dual carafes all assume a household with competing preferences, and one person drinking the same cappuccino every day is paying a premium for flexibility they’ll never open. A cheaper Magnifica does that job. Same coffee, less machine.

Anyone chasing espresso quality should look elsewhere too. Superautomatics trade shot control for consistency by design, and no preset count changes what a fixed grinder and an automated tamp can do at the extremes. The ceiling sits lower. Deliberately so.

Renters and small kitchens face a different problem. De’Longhi hasn’t put the footprint front and center, and a machine carrying a grinder, a brew group, a water tank, and two separate milk containers isn’t hiding under a cabinet. Which leaves the actual buyer: a two or three person household where morning coffee and afternoon coffee look nothing alike, and where nobody wants to negotiate over a single carafe before work. That’s a narrower group than a $999.95 launch usually chases. Narrow isn’t the same as small. Plenty of kitchens have exactly this argument every day.

Buy, Wait, or Skip

Buy it if two people in your kitchen want opposite drinks at opposite times of day and you’re currently solving that with two appliances, or with one appliance and a rinse cycle you’ve come to resent. Wait if you’re the only coffee drinker. Skip it if you take it black.

Pricing looks stable so far. Amazon lists the Duo under ASIN B0H31SYSWZ at $999.95, matching De’Longhi’s own number rather than undercutting it, which is normal inside a launch window and rarely survives the first promotional cycle. Check the live listing before you commit.
