Kicker and Sky Germany report that Crystal Palace have upped their offer for Augsburg centre-back Chrislain Matsima to €25m. An earlier offer of €20m for the Bundesliga professional was rejected by the Bundesliga outfit.

Augsburg hold out for major Matsima profit

Matsima quickly developed into one of Augsburg’s most important defenders. He formed part of an effective back three alongside Jeffrey Gouweleeuw and Cedric Zesiger before retaining a prominent role following Sandro Wagner’s arrival.

The centre-back started Augsburg’s first seven competitive fixtures of the 2025/26 campaign, scoring once and contributing two assists. His estimated market value subsequently rose to €22m.

A serious thigh injury in January interrupted Matsima’s progress and created concerns over a potential Palace transfer. He nevertheless returned in April and contested four Bundesliga fixtures before the end of the season.

Palace’s latest €25m offer would already hand Augsburg a substantial return on their original investment. The Fuggerstädter nevertheless remain in a strong negotiating position.
