Speaking after their group-stage victory over Austria, the 26-year-old expressed his desire to leave Atletico to “fulfil his dream”.
It has been widely reported that Alvarez’s favoured destination is Camp Nou, though the relationship between Atletico and Barca appears somewhat strained, with the Madrid side mocking Barca’s pursuit of Alvarez at the end of May, responding with an offer of “four tickets for tomorrow’s Bad Bunny concert, an annual subscription to ABC, and a bag of sunflower seeds” for Lamine Yamal.
The publication reports: “Julian Alvarez has made his priority clear. The Argentine striker has no intention of returning to England and has ruled out listening to offers from the Premier League. The player simply doesn’t want to play in England again.
“[Arsenal] is keeping a close eye on any opportunities that may arise during the transfer window, but Julian’s response has been unequivocal: England is not in his plans. That is his initial answer.
“By closing the door on some of Europe’s wealthiest clubs, Julian is sending a message to both Atletico de Madrid and Barca: his intention is not to participate in a bidding war, but to try to steer his future toward the destination he truly desires.”
Spence among Inter targets
The Serie A champions have faced difficulties in acquiring a right-sided defender this summer, with Anan Khalaili being denied a sports permit in Italy because of an issue flagged in his medical and Marco Palestra opting to join Chelsea.
Inter’s current first-choice is reportedly Strasbourg’s Guela Doue, but the Ivory Coast defender is being “locked away” by the French side.
Gazzetta dello Sport reports that Spence, who already has Serie A experience after a loan spell with Genoa in the second half of the 2023/24 campaign, is now being considered.

The publication reports: “The funnel of possible choices has narrowed, and the Nerazzurri’s favourite, Guela Doue, seems to be locked away by Strasbourg.
“For this reason, too, people are quickly looking around and picking through the remaining possibilities: the Argentine Nahuel Molina is a perennial favourite, while from a limited list of names, the Englishman Djed Spence, a longtime acquaintance of Italian football thanks to his past with the Grifone, is attractive.”
Juventus consider Balogun
Juve have reportedly been in negotiations with Paris Saint-Germain over a deal for Kolo Muani, who spent the 2025/26 campaign on loan at Tottenham Hotspur.
However, the Serie A side are not prepared to match the asking price for the 27-year-old, according to the report, and could turn to Balogun if they cannot reach an agreement with the European champions.
Former Arsenal striker Balogun scored 19 goals for Monaco during the 2025/26 season, while he became a hugely prominent figure at this summer’s World Cup, scoring three goals before the controversial decision from FIFA to overturn his one-match suspension after a straight red card.

Discussing Juventus’s options this summer, Gazzetta dello Sport writes: “The priority remains the striker, and Randal Kolo Muani remains the favourite. It’s a crucial week for the Frenchman: the Bianconeri, who have been negotiating with PSG for days, are ready to make a move.
“The Bianconeri have offered up to €40 million for Kolo, but don’t intend to go as high as €50 million. Now the ball is in PSG’s court, who have already agreed to a loan with an option to buy, which could become a mandatory option under certain conditions.
“Juventus remains confident and is seeking a compromise for Kolo Muani, who has been considered out of Luis Enrique’s plans for two years.
“If things go wrong, [Juventus CEO Giovanni] Carnevali will focus on Atletico’s Norwegian Alexander Sorloth or 25-year-old Folarin Balogun, a new idea for the attack.”
Roma confirm strong interest in Summerville
Summerville joined West Ham on a five-year deal in 2024, but following the club’s relegation from the Premier League, his departure from the London Stadium appears likely.
There are Premier League teams interested in the Dutchman, according to Pedulla, but Roma are reportedly “head over heels” for the 24-year-old, and could look to close in on a deal in the coming hours.
Pedulla reports: “Summerville-Roma, one-hour summit that ended just a while ago with a representative from his agency. The Giallorossi club has confirmed strong interest under certain conditions (tag fee sustainability within 40 million and 4 million salary).
“There are other English clubs currently on hold but ready to jump back in. Roma is head over heels and will soon have a response, perhaps already by tonight.”

Di Marzio writes: “The West Ham winger has always been popular with the club, and they’re making an attempt to sign him.
“The winger is fresh off a World Cup appearance with the Netherlands, where he scored two goals and provided two assists in four games.”
