Colombia Eliminates Ghana, Final Match Stats, Highlights & Updated World Cup 2026 Bracket

Colombia became the final team to book its spot in the round of 16 at the 2026 FIFA World Cup on Friday night.

Colombia beat Ghana 1-0 behind a first-half goal out of Jhon Arias.

Jhon Arias delivered the only goal of the contest in the 14th minute.

Arias finished from close range to score what turned out to be the goal that sent Colombia into the round of 16.

Los Cafeteros had plenty of other chances to score, but Ghana goalkeeper Lawrence Ati Zigi came up with a handful of strong saves.

Colombia pushed for a second goal right up until the end of the match.

Ghana did not have much success in its attempt to level the game. It failed to record a shot on goal against a Colombia defense that is now on a three-game shutout streak and conceded once in the entire tournament.

Colombia set up a round-of-16 clash with Switzerland on Tuesday. The winner of that matchup gets the Argentina-Egypt winner in the quarterfinals.
