Mike Myers reunites with Austin Powers cast amid sequel talk
Mike Myers reunited with his Austin Powers co-stars for a Verizon advertisement, People reported. The actor reprised his role as Dr. Evil alongside Seth Green, Rob Lowe and Mindy Sterling. Myers shared a selfie on Instagram on June 23 in Dr. Evil’s signature gray outfit.
“Had a delightfully EVIL time getting this band back together! We’ll have to do it again soon mwah-hah-hah-hah,” Myers captioned the post. The Verizon ad featured the cast returning to Dr. Evil’s volcanic lair “somewhere outside Las Vegas.” Dr. Evil unveiled a fake phone company called “Menace Mobile” with confusing pricing plans.
Scott Evil called the strategy out, saying, “This isn’t evil, this is just typical phone company stuff.” The ad ended with every character choosing Verizon over Dr. Evil’s company. “Can you hear me now? Mwha-ha-ha,” Dr. Evil quipped as the commercial wrapped up.
The reunion comes after Myers appeared on a FIFA World Cup livestream on June 16. A fan question asked if audiences would ever see an Austin Powers 4. “Yes,” Myers responded immediately, prompting the host to remark, “Wow, that was a quick yes.”
Myers previously expressed interest in a fourth film during a 2022 interview. “I would love to do one. Yeah, yeah, yeah,” he said at the time. Director Jay Roach also kept hopes alive in 2020, saying he is “always game for anything” Myers wants to do. Myers’ son Spike, 14, joined him on the livestream and joked about being “mini Austin.”
The Instagram post has since garnered over 619,000 likes and thousands of enthusiastic comments from fans. Austin Powers 4 has not officially revealed a plot, title or release date.
