Germany players spooked by venomous snake

North Carolina is not quite Australia, but there are still come critters that can make you feel a bit uncomfortable — just ask the German national teams.

Bayern Munich star and Germany captain Joshua Kimmich said that the team saw a venomous snake around the base camp in Winston-Salem on Monday.

“We saw a snake yesterday, we were told it was venomous. If you get bitten, you have to go to the hospital. I don’t think you’ll die, but it’s certainly dangerous. I have the feeling that if you step on a snake like that, it can end badly. That’s why we’re trying to keep our distance from animals here. I have respect for the people here. In Germany, I have the feeling there aren’t so many dangerous animals,” Kimmich said (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).

Per Bild, who did some hard-hitting journalism on the mater, the snake was a copperhead, which are common in the region:

Well, at least their equipment did not get stolen…yet.
