Chinese EV brand Zeekr says it has a significant order backlog after a strong month of April and May that resulted in nearly 2,000 deliveries of its Zeekr 7X electric SUV.
The brand says it has now hit 5,000 deliveries since its launch late last year, making it one of the fastest growing premium cars in the Australian market.
The 7X finished April with 973 sales, placing it third in the month, and ahead of its main competitor, the Tesla Model Y. In May, it finished with over 960 sales, still helping the model land in top 5 EV sales for the month, although well below the Model Y which had more than 5,000 sales.
The 7X has seen its popularity surge after winning multiple automotive industry awards, further helping it reach milestone deliveries.
“Reaching 5,000 deliveries in such a short period is a significant milestone for Zeekr in Australia,” Frank Li, managing director of Zeekr Australia, said.
“The momentum we’re seeing gives us real confidence for the second half of the year. With sustained demand, expanding retail coverage and a strong product pipeline, we expect to continue scaling deliveries and further establishing Zeekr as a leading player in Australia’s premium EV market.”
Zeekr first started delivering the 7X in August 2025, holding mass delivery events such as the one at Sydney Motorsports Park.
So far in 2026, the 7X has year to date sales to 3,664, also fifth in Australia and behind the Tesla Model Y and the BYD Sealion 7, according to data compiled by The Driven.
Last month, the company also reported a 280 per cent jump in customer enquires on its website compared to 6 months ago, and a 173 per cent boost in website traffic over the same period.
The entry rear-wheel-drive version starts from $57,900 before on-road costs and comes with a 75 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery, delivering up to 480 km of WLTP driving range.
It packs 800-volt battery architecture capable of DC charging speeds of up to 450 kW.
All variants of the 7X include 22 kW AC charging capability.
The Long Range RWD version ups the range to up to 615 km thanks to a larger 100 kWh nickel-manganese-cobalt (NMC) battery pack.
The Performance AWD model and the recently launched Black Edition, deliver 475 kW of power and 710 Nm of torque, allowing the SUV to accelerate from 0–100 km/h in 3.8 seconds while delivering more than 540 km of WLTP range.
All 7X models also include vehicle-to-load (V2L) with a 3.3 kW output. Zeekr plans to expand its lineup in Australia later this year.
