Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds embraced a famous Australian tradition. The duo took part in a shoey celebration during a break from filming their upcoming docuseries and shared the moment with fans on social media.

Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds are currently working on a new Disney+ docuseries. The series is centered around the Australian SailGP team. They co-own the Australian SailGP team. During an on-set break, the pair were seen drinking beer from a green high-top Converse sneaker. It was part of the iconic Australian shoey tradition.
Reynolds shared the footage on Instagram and joked about the experience in the caption. He wrote, “If at some point in your life you get the chance to spend time on the water and at the beach with the @bondsflyingroos , partake in a shoey with the entire team, then head into the city to catch @thehughjackman and company put on an acting tour de force, and then somehow have the insane privilege of documenting it all for a show on @disneyplus , it’s very important you do that. Maybe not the shoey.”
In the video, Jackman kicked off the shoey celebration. The crew sang along. After finishing the drink, he shouted, “Yeah!” before handing the shoe over to Reynolds. Reynolds then took his turn as the crew continued singing.
He quickly finished the drink from the shoe. He shared a hug with Jackman after completing the challenge. Jackman then reminded everyone to “Drink responsibly.” The crew started a chant of “Aussie, Aussie, Aussie, Oi, Oi, Oi.”
Jackman also posted the video on Instagram and joked, “I would say it’s been a good 35 years since my last shoey!!!” The lighthearted shoey moment gave fans a fun look behind the scenes of the upcoming Disney+ series.
With Jackman and Reynolds involved, the project is already generating plenty of attention ahead of its release. The project was announced in late May 2026. The series will take viewers behind the scenes of the SailGP Championship.
