Liverpool have reportedly reached an agreement to appoint former Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola as their new head coach.
According to widespread reports from The Athletic to ESPN, Iraola is set to take charge of the Premier League giants after Arne Slot was sacked.
Having targeted a more aggressive and entertaining brand of football, Liverpool have seemingly turned to highly-rated Spaniard Iraola.
Iraola is fresh off a historic season with Bournemouth, where he secured European football for the first time in their history.
On the verge of signing a two-year contract with Liverpool, the 43-year-old oversaw Bournemouth’s memorable sixth-placed finish, headlined by wins over champions Arsenal and Liverpool, and draws with Manchester City, Manchester United and Chelsea.
He opted not to renew at the end of 2025-26, having established himself as one of the most sought-after names in the coaching market within three years.
“It’s been a hell of a ride,” he told Bournemouth fans last month. “Today has perfectly summed up the season and my three years here. Ultimately, it’s a process, and I’ve thoroughly enjoyed it.”
Iraola had been heavily linked with German Bundesliga club Bayer Leverkusen, who are looking to replace interim manager Kasper Hjulmand.
He also reportedly rejected the chance to take over Italian powerhouse AC Milan after the Rossoneri sacked Massimiliano Allegri, having missed out on UEFA Champions League qualification.
