What did Robert Pattinson say about The Batman and his acting career?

Robert Pattinson will soon appear in Christopher Nolan‘s upcoming epic adventure The Odyssey, set to release next month. During a promotional interview with GQ, the actor touched upon the movie and also talked about his career trajectory in recent years.

Reflecting on his post-Batman career, Pattinson admitted he was frustrated by the lack of opportunities he expected. After making the movie, he was expecting to get more work and multiple new offers. However, that did not materialize as he had anticipated. He said, “I just remember after Batman I was thinking like, I’ll do another massive job afterwards, and I couldn’t find the thing.”

He added, “And it was incredibly frustrating because I thought there was like a secret door which opened and like suddenly all these different projects are there. They’re not. This doesn’t exist. And it’s because the whole industry’s different.”

While Pattinson has had huge opportunities lately with The Odyssey, the upcoming Dune: Part Three, and The Batman Part II, he still thinks the projects have been fewer in number, contrary to what he hoped for after The Batman’s roaring reception.

The 2022 film was widely praised by critics and audiences, earning high praise for Pattinson’s portrayal of Bruce Wayne/Batman. It was a box office success as well, making over $770 million against a budget of $200 million, according to The Numbers.

Speaking of his upcoming project, The Odyssey will see Pattinson playing Antinous, the suitor of Queen Penelope (played by Anne Hathaway). After seeing a vacant throne, his power-hungry character tries to capture it by all means.

As for The Batman Part II, Pattinson is going to reprise his role as the Dark Knight from the first part. The production of the film is already underway. Besides Pattinson, The Batman Part II will also feature Andy Serkis, Scarlett Johansson, Sebastian Stan, Colin Farrell, Jayme Lawson, and Gil Perez-Abraham, among others.

The Batman Part II is set to release on October 1, 2027.
