Investigators alleged that Bailey smuggled contraband into the facility, violating her oath of office and committing multiple felony offenses.

Bailey was charged with:

  • OCGA 42-4-13 — Violation of Oath by a Public Officer
  • OCGA 42-5-18 — Providing Contraband to an Inmate
  • OCGA 16-10-1 — Guard Lines and Jail Violations

The sheriff’s office said additional charges could be filed as the investigation continues. Each occurrence is a felony offense, CCSO said.

Sheriff Fred Cole said the agency sets clear expectations for employees from the start.

“If you violate your oath of office, bring contraband into this jail, or engage in inappropriate relationships with inmates, we will find out, and you will be charged and booked into the jail,” Cole said in a statement.

The sheriff’s office said it remains committed to operating “with honor, integrity, compassion, and professionalism” and will take decisive action when standards are violated to protect the integrity of the justice system and maintain public trust.
