Fans finally have a proper look at the next spin-off in the Big Bang Theory franchise. It revealed its release month, poster, and first-look photos at CCXP Mexico City on Sunday. The announcements confirm a summer launch for the highly anticipated Max original, giving audiences a taste of the multiversal chaos to come.

Stuart Fails to Save the Universe gets release month, poster and first photos

The new Big Bang Theory spin-off will debut this July, streaming exclusively on HBO Max. The news came alongside a new poster and multiple first-look images that place Kevin Sussman’s Stuart squarely in the crosshairs of a reality-bending crisis.

The series picks up with Stuart, the ever-optimistic owner of the comic book store, suddenly burdened with a cosmic-scale disaster. After accidentally breaking an experimental device built by Sheldon and Leonard, he triggers a multiverse Armageddon. Now he must scramble to restore reality before everything unravels — a task made infinitely harder by his own hapless nature. As the title bluntly suggests, things do not go according to plan.

Stuart won’t face the apocalypse alone. His girlfriend Denise, played by Lauren Lapkus, is right beside him, along with geologist Bert (Brian Posehn) and the grating yet brilliant Barry Kripke (John Ross Bowie). The pack for Stuart Fails to Save the Universe is equal parts frantic teamwork and relentless bickering. Along the way, the group encounters alternate-universe versions of familiar Big Bang Theory characters.

The streamer also revealed that Danny Elfman will compose the original theme music. Elfman is known for decades of film scores, including Batman, Beetlejuice, and Spider-Man. Along with television themes for The Simpsons, Desperate Housewives, and Wednesday (via Deadline).

With the Stuart Fails to Save the Universe release date window finally locked in for July and production details surfacing, fans will get to see the original show’s apartment-hangout vibe swapped for a dimension-hopping catastrophe – one that rests on the shoulders of its most unlikely hero.
