
Hong Kong police are investigating two separate traffic accidents on Tuesday that led to the deaths of two women.
In the first case, police were alerted at about 8.51am to a light goods vehicle driven by a 36-year-old man travelling along Cha Kwo Ling Road towards Yau Tong. The vehicle was approaching Yau Tong MTR station when it reportedly knocked down a woman crossing the road.
The woman, a 30-year-old from mainland China, sustained serious injuries to her head and limbs. She was rushed to United Christian Hospital in Kwun Tong unconscious and was pronounced dead at 10.02am.
In the second case, the force received a report at about 8.57am that a coach driven by a 67-year-old man was travelling along Kwu Tung Road towards San Tin when it reportedly knocked down a 41-year-old woman as the vehicle approached a park.
The victim sustained serious head injuries and was unconscious when she was taken to North District Hospital in Sheung Shui. She was pronounced dead at 10.18am.
Police said both drivers had been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving causing death and were being detained for investigation.
