An Oregon-based drive-thru coffee chain is looking to grow its presence in the Memphis market.
Dutch Bros Coffee plans to open a new stand-alone location on 0.75 acres of land at 8872 U.S. 64 in Lakeland. The Lakeland Municipal Planning and Design Review Commission on April 9 approved a site plan application for the proposed Dutch Bros Coffee. (Previous plans for a Glide Express Car Wash at the site were dissolved, city officials said in March.)
The proposed drive-thru Dutch Bros Coffee would be located between Shadrachs Coffee at 8906 U.S. 64 and LA Fitness at 8864 U.S. 64. In addition to being near the Shadrachs Coffee, other coffee-type chains in the vicinity include Starbucks at 9025 U.S. 64 and Dunkin’ at 8984 U.S. 64. Jonesboro-based Shadrachs Coffee opened in Lakeland in early 2024.

The busy U.S. 64 also is home to several restaurants and retail businesses including Kukuruku Crispy Chicken, Lennys Grill & Subs, Smoothie King, HOTWORX and Sprouts Farmers Market.
Dutch Bros Coffee — which was founded in 1992 in Oregon — serves a wide variety of unique, handcrafted beverages such as its exclusive Dutch Bros Rebel energy drink, specialty coffee, nitrogen-infused cold brew, teas, lemonades, sodas, smoothies, shakes and snacks. Dutch Bros Coffee has more than 1,100 locations across the country, including a Collierville location that opened in summer 2025 at 1181 W. Poplar Ave.
Furthermore, a 986-square-foot drive-thru Raleigh location at 3495 Austin Peay Highway in Memphis is under construction. Dutch Bros Coffee also has plans to construct a new Bartlett location at 6200 Stage Road in a space between Bank of America and Leslie’s Pool Supplies store.
