The contestants set off on the next leg of their journey in Turkey
Race Across the World viewers said the same thing after several breathtaking places were showcased on screen once again. The popular BBC programme returned, with Katie and Harrison in the lead.
As the episode opened, Jo and Kush were more than 24 hours behind and were eager to catch up to the other contestants. The show returned to screens earlier this month, as the five teams embarked on one of the most beautiful routes yet.
The teams of two are battling it out for a £20,000 prize as they race over 12,000km across eight countries including Italy, Greece, Turkey, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Mongolia.
The most recent episode saw the contestants take off on the next leg of the journey, this time passing through some stunning locations in Turkey, including Istanbul, Alanya and Cappadocia.
Fans were shocked just minutes into the episode when it was confirmed an elimination was on the cards. They were tasked with heading towards Halfeti, but the team that arrived in fifth place would be eliminated from the race.
As things got even more serious, each team prioritised speed over budget.
While the contestants were eager to make it to the next checkpoint, viewers has a more relaxed approach as they took the time to take in the unbelievable sights on display.
Katie and Harrison were the first to arrive in Cappadocia, and were lost for words when they saw the stunning place.
Katie said: “It’s just incredible. I think it’s the most stunning place I’ve ever been to in my life.” Harrison said: “It’s just nothing like you’ll ever see anywhere else.”
After spending the night in a cave, they made the most of their spare time and got up early to watch a sunrise hot air balloon experience.
Taking to social media, viewers shared how much they love the show, as it often encourages people to visit places they have never considered before.
On X, one viewer said: “Wow. Cappadocia. Never heard of it before but need to go there for sure. This is why I love this programme.”
A second said: “OMG I need to visit Cappadocia.” A third wrote: “Very beautiful places.” Another added: “Never fancied Turkey but some of it looks really nice.”
While viewers immersed themselves in the beautiful locations, Jo and Kush went into a state of panic when they realised they could be eliminated.
The chaos intensified when they missed their bus from Istanbul to Alanya. Kush told the cameras: “I’ve told my mum I’m not going home until it’s over.”
A determined Kush stuck to his word, as they made it to the checkpoint with plenty of time to spare. They surprised themselves when they opened the book to find they had made it to second place.
But it was an unfortunate ending for Puja and Roshni, who were the last ones to reach the checkpoint and were eliminated from the show.
Race Across the World airs Thursdays at 8pm on BBC One and iPlayer
