‘Multiple’ injuries in Austin ‘Active Attack’ incident, police say

“Multiple” people were injured in an incident in Austin, Texas, early on Sunday, police said, adding that a suspect had been pronounced dead after an officer-involved shooting.

The Austin Police Department released a statement urging people to avoid the area near the 600 block of Rio Grande Street.

“The incident originated as a shoot/stab hotshot incident with multiple people injured,” police said on social media. “Please avoid the area. More information to follow.”

The Austin Fire Department earlier said that emergency personnel were responding to an “Active Attack” call in the state’s capital.

“AFD is working an Active Attack call on West 6th St. unified command with @Austin_Police and @ATCEMS This is an active scene we will release information as becomes available,” the department said on social media. “Avoid the area.”
