Jon Hamm on his Your Friends & Neighbors dance going viral
At the red carpet for his upcoming animated movie, Hoppers, Jon Hamm shared his response to a viral dance meme. It features him in a short clip from his Apple TV crime drama, Your Friends & Neighbors.
“Well, I certainly wouldn’t have thought I would be meme-worthy at the ripe old age of 54,” the Mad Men star told Entertainment Tonight. “But I think part of it is, at least with the couple of things that have happened recently, is engaging with life.”
The 54-year-old continued, “In our crazy life that we get to do, like going to the Super Bowl, being creative, and having fun, I think all of that stuff is a better way to memeifeid, rather than the negative way. A little joy goes a long way.”
The meme in question is a short video showing Hamm’s character, Andrew Cooper, dancing nonchalantly at a nightclub. The clip has gone viral on social media, with various versions in which the original music is generally replaced with something else.
While users often use the meme in lighter situations, the series explores a darker theme with comedy elements. The story follows Andrew after he loses his job as a hedge fund manager. But to keep up his appearances, he resorts to criminal ways to make a living and support his family. The series also features Amanda Peet, Olivia Munn, Hoon Lee, and Lena Hall, among other in prominent roles.
Meanwhile, The Morning Show actor also lent his voice in the upcoming Disney Pixar’s animated film, Hoppers, as Mayor Jerry. It had its world premiere on February 23 and will arrive in cinemas globally on March 6, 2026.
