God of War Sons of Sparta announced with trailer

Sony revealed God of War Sons of Sparta during its February 2026 State of Play, with a trailer confirming the game’s release on PlayStation 5. The 2D action platformer was developed by Mega Cat Studios and features a canon story set in Kratos’ youth during his training at the Agoge alongside his brother Deimos.

The Santa Monica Studio team behind God of War (2018) and Ragnarök wrote the title. TC Carson narrates it as adult Kratos, marking his first return to the role in over a decade.

The game features combat with a spear and shield. Players can wield divine artifacts known as the Gifts of Olympus. It also introduces new creatures inspired by Greek mythology, brought to life with hand-drawn pixel animation.
