Academy Award winner Leonardo DiCaprio shared new updates on his next projects with acclaimed filmmaker Martin Scorsese, including the Frank Sinatra biopic. The long-time collaborators’ most recent film together was the 2023 epic crime drama Killers of the Flower Moon, which received ten Oscar nominations.
What are the new updates for Leonardo DiCaprio’s next Martin Scorsese movies?
During a recent Q&A at the Santa Barbara Film Festival’s Hammond Cinema Vanguard Award ceremony, DiCaprio was asked about the status of his Frank Sinatra biopic with Scorsese, which the award-winning director has been trying to make for a long time now. The One Battle Another star confirmed that the project is “still in the works,” hinting at the creative team’s continued struggle to get the film rights to the legendary singer’s life story.
In addition, DiCaprio also offered an update on Scorsese’s What Happens at Night movie, revealing that production is scheduled to begin very soon.
“You know, we’re doing our next film called What Happens at Night with Jennifer Lawrence,” he shared. “I’m leaving in two weeks, so it’s going to be another journey.”
What Happens at Night will be directed by Scorsese from a screenplay written by Patrick Marber. The movie will also be led by Jennifer Lawrence, who previously worked with the Titanic actor on the 2021 comedy Don’t Look Up. Even though Scorsese served as a producer on Lawrence’s Die, My Love, the upcoming project will be the first time that the acclaimed filmmaker will be directing Lawrence.
Besides DiCaprio and Lawrence, the cast will also include Patricia Clarkson and Mads Mikkelsen. Apple Original Films is in negotiations to finance and produce the projects alongside StudioCanal. In a previous interview, DiCaprio confirmed that Alfred Hitchcock’s 1958 psychological thriller Vertigo is actually one of the reference points they’re using for the film.
