CLIVE, Iowa (KTIV) – President Donald Trump is in Iowa on Tuesday, Jan. 27, and plans to give a speech in a Des Moines suburb.
President Trump’s speech is scheduled for 3 p.m. at the Horizon Events Center in Clive, Iowa.

The venue for Trump’s Tuesday appearance was the site of the Iowa Republican Party’s 2024 State Convention.
What will Trump talk about in his speech?
The White House says President Trump will talk about energy and the economy in his speech.
Gray Media’s White House Correspondent Jon Decker reports that Trump will discuss during his speech rising home values and declining gas prices. White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt also told Decker that the president will visit local businesses and meet with lawmakers.
Mid-term elections are around the corner
This visit marks nine months before the mid-term elections that could demonstrate what voters think about his return to the White House. For Iowa, the state has several high-profile races on the ballot in November, including four U.S. House seats, a U.S. Senate seat, and the governor.
Trump’s speech comes as his immigration policies have put federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents in American cities, which have seen elevated attention after an agent shot and killed Alex Pretti, a Minneapolis nurse.
The president’s policies on immigration, military action in Venezuela, his threats to take over Greenland, inflation, and tariffs could all be on voters’ minds as they head to the polls this next election to vote for members of Congress, which currently has a Republican majority in the Senate and House.
Trump’s last visit to Iowa was on July 3, 2025, at the Iowa State Fairgrounds, kicking off the year-long celebration of America’s 250th birthday.
