- LaLiga currently earns €990m per season
- Telefónica and DAZN to share allocation, taking five games per matchday each
- Spanish league also inks highlight clips deal with BBC Sport
LaLiga has netted a six per cent increase in the value of its domestic media contracts, with Telefónica and DAZN retaining the league’s rights for its next five-year cycle.
The Spanish soccer league’s new set of deals for the period between the 2027/28 season and the 2031/32 campaign are worth more than €5.25 billion (US$6.08 billion), which is at least €300 million (US$347.4 million) more than its current arrangements. LaLiga will earn more than €1 billion (US$1.16 billion) per season, which is more than the €990 million (US$1.15 billion) it currently earns annually.
LaLiga becomes the third soccer league to exceed €1 billion in annual revenue from its domestic media rights, and ranks behind the Premier League and the Bundesliga.

As part of its new set of deals, Telefónica and DAZN will show five games per matchday. Telefónica, which shows games through its Movistar pay-TV network, will no longer have exclusivity for three match weeks, as it has for the ongoing 2025/26 campaign and for next season.
LaLiga noted that once it has sold the rights to its second-tier division LaLiga Segunda, as well as rights to highlights and for public venues, it anticipates its domestic media revenues to reach a total of €6.14 billion (US$7.11 billion) for the next five-year period, which would be a nine per cent rise on the current cycle.
“At a time when many leagues are losing value, LaLiga’s continued growth and achievement of record highs is especially significant,” said Javier Tebas, LaLiga president.
“This result reflects the strength of our product and the confidence of the operators, driven largely by our determined fight against piracy, which has allowed us to increase the number of operators’ users, and by the clubs’ efforts in the continuous improvement of audiovisual content, offering the best possible experience to the fans.”
Meanwhile, LaLiga also confirmed a new multi-year deal with BBC Sport, which will grant the UK public service broadcaster (PSB) access to highlight clips. The agreement will see the BBC Sport website, app and social channels publish LaLiga content on a weekly basis.
The BBC is the latest addition to LaLiga’s roster of UK clips partners, with the league signing deals with Sky Sports earlier this year. DAZN and Goalhanger’s The Rest is Football podcast also hold rights to the league’s highlight clips, with the former’s deal spanning multiple territories.
The BBC’s partnership with LaLiga comes after it secured the non-exclusive rights to one Friday night Bundesliga game per matchday.
“Following the announcement of our recent deal with the Bundesliga, we’re thrilled to now bring LaLiga clips to BBC Sport’s digital platforms,” said Alex Kay-Jelski, director of BBC Sport. “These additions strengthen our already extensive global football offering and allow us to showcase the stories, rivalries and standout talent from across Europe.
“As we look ahead to World Cup 2026, this puts us in a fantastic position to bring fans closer to the players and moments that matter – all in one place.”
