Flint, Mich.—Vehicle City Fashion Week powered by Fashion Against Violence (FAV) is happening all this week in downtown Flint with several events happening throughout the week.
Tuesday nights event took place at On the Bricks on Saginaw Street.
The event is more than a fashion show it’s a platform for creativity, empowerment, and community impact.
Fashion Against Violence was founded by designer Kala Anthony, it began as a way to honor the life of her brother, Antonio, who was lost to gun violence.
“ Vehicle City Fashion Week is a week of events that is pushed by the movement Fashion Against Violence,” said Kala Anthony, Founder of Vehicle City Fashion Week.
“So I kind of took that idea and my being inspired by New York Fashion Week, I wanted to do that in Flint, Michigan for those who are designers, models, photographers, everyone who is interested in the fashion industry so that they can get kind of like what they have in New York in Flint, Michigan.”
This year’s fashion week focuses on building industry awareness, and strengthening Flint’s fashion ecosystem by shining a national spotlight on the creativity and resilience rooted in Flint.
