SNAP benefits to be restored for Hoosiers after government shutdown

With the nation’s longest-running government shutdown now over, Hoosiers who rely on the Supplement Nutrition Assistance Program will soon have their benefits restored.

The Indiana Family and Social Services Administration will begin issuing full SNAP benefits on Nov. 15, and eligible recipients can expect the funds to be available on their EBT cards starting Nov. 16, according to a news release from the agency.

Indiana has more than 570,000 SNAP recipients. Since the state starts distributing SNAP benefits on the fifth of each month, people whose names are at the beginning of the alphabet have already missed their November payment.
