President Donald Trump said Thursday that Kazakhstan will join the Abraham Accords, the first nation of his second term to do so and a “major step toward peace,” he announced on Truth Social.
Trump said he held a call with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to discuss the agreement, which he framed as part of his broader effort to expand diplomatic ties between Israel and Muslim-majority nations.
The Abraham Accords, brokered during Trump’s first term, normalized relations between Israel and several Arab countries, including the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain. Trump said a formal signing ceremony with Kazakhstan will take place soon and that more countries are “lining up” to join.
